life and all it’s sorts.

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

i don’t want to apologise for my lack of blog posts of late. i don’t feel THAT sorry. ahah. i won’t go on about excuses like i went to melbourne, saw a couple of bands, generally had a disaster of a trip, saw inception [didn't think it was THAT amazing], then got a virus which i’m still recovering from. i hate being sick.

what i have been doing is fun things like working with the 2010 Adelaide Fashion Festival team, doing cool things with the Adelaide Fashion Collective, applying for a job, designing a new collection that i’m planning on releasing next year, AND exciting collaborations with some talented people. ISN”T THAT ALL EXCITING?

AND i got a new beautiful skirt from acne. life is pretty damn good really. i can’t really complain all that much.

on the weekend we had a fun photoshoot with the AFC contributors. aren’t they all gorgeous! here are some behind the scenes shots taken by the talented lauren. check the AFC site soon to see the final pics, with a very special announcement!

and here’s one of my fave pics that angela took from the official shoot. we’re not putting it on the website, so i thought i’d put it up here. the three founders of the Adelaide Fashion Collective, adam, peter & i. loves.

sportsgirl roadshow.

Friday, August 6th, 2010

i was lucky to be invited to the sportsgirl roadshow in adelaide this week to preview the new Spring/Summer 2010 collection. how fun! although i was deathy sick from this awful virus i’ve been suffering from, i wouldn’t let it stop me! it’s fashion after all!

it was typical sportsgirl style, with influences from the military, to the 60s, lace, floral, metallics and all teamed with modern embellishments. and the shoes! the shoes were the best! my faves had to be the black wedges with the cut outs. the spring/summer sportsgirl collections will drop into stores over the next few months.

dice kayek.

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

i’ve blogged about dice kayek before, but i just wanted to show you my favourite pieces from her FW 2010/11 collection. it’s understated but still makes a statement. and i just think her choice of fabrics really hit home to exactly what i LOVE. the metallics and the coats are just gorgeous. she has a gift for creating these amazing shapes out of her clothes which are still completely wearable.

i really want to share these images because 1. i really love them and 2. i wanted to rant on about the inspiration!

so a few weeks ago, i was approached by In Daily to do an interview about the Adelaide Fashion Collective. i’ve never been filmed before, especially talking about this new Collective thing i’m so heavily involved with and passionate about.  i’m a shy girl, which i’m sure you wouldn’t believe, but it’s true! i know you’re thinking, shy huh? you’ve got a fashion blog? with self portrait images? yeah come on. well i am! talking about this stuff is hard!

instead of being interviewed in front of a blank backdrop i had the idea of a photoshoot, so readers/watchers could see some talented adelaide people doing what they do best. we organised the shoot in two days and i’m pretty amazed with the results.

the clothing is a mix of mine and chanelle’s, and it’s really all sorts. there’s limedrop, modcloth, marc jacobs, sportsgirl and heaps of vintage!

i was inspired by cocorosie, androgyny and simple love. and of course the title comes from one of my favourite duos she & him! i wanted two female models, with one portraying the man, i wanted to show a simple romance, nothing too sexual, just enough to catch your eye.

Hope you like the results!

it’s a very, very fine house.

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

oh the kids just love this joint. hahaha. what am i, 80 years old?

anyway, a new place has opened up in adelaide, fittingly called ‘Au Haus‘. you’ll find it upstairs above distill. who doesn’t like a bar with a bed in it? and grass on the dance floor? and old school mario on the nintendo? all pretty awesome. funnily enough, i totally have one of those coca cola radios in my house too.

we ventured there last friday night after a fashion event, i’m essentially a walking ad for veronika maine and cue.

outfit: veronika maine dress [this is the one that i call my 'closest i'll ever get to peter pilotto' dress], sportsgirl cardigan, cue jacket, various jewels, fendi heels.

gee, these pants have been so controversial in my life! ahaha. you either love them or hate them. seems that most people hate them ["morning zebra!" said the random man this afternoon], but i don’t care, they’re awesome! super comfortable zebra pants! i wore this outfit to the hairdresser today, i love getting my hair done!

a higher learning.

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

a few pics from a higher learning, sydney. it was great to hear from designers ben pollitt [friedrich gray] and luke sales [romance was born]. glynis traill-nash was a fabulous facilitator as well. i found it incredibly beneficial and i’m determined to work my arse off to get to where i want to be. doing what you ask? well, you’ll just have to wait and see.

for the full rundown, and because i’m super busy [translate = lazy], go and check out lorena’s wrap ups on Australian INfront. day one is now online.
